Another bit of touristing

We went to the zoo on memorial day this year as a family! which is a tremendous feat for us, plus we were also able to get together with some of my family(mom, kim, friend, michelle, and cole). It all started when it was memorial day and everyone was doing things with their families. I thought my kids aren't doing anything with us, we're not getting together as family with anyone up here, I wonder what the fam's doing down there? so I called em up and dad was out flying his planes and everyone else was bumming around town or off to visit friends. no one wanted to drive all the way to the others home so after a few moments of indecision we decided we wouldn't do anything, we wished each other a happy day and hung up the phone. Not more than 5 min. later Michelle called back saying that it was stupid for us not to hangout together when everyone had the day off but wasn't doing anything, let's meet up at Hogle zoo! So we went!
First we had lunch while waiting for everyone else to show up. only to find out they had to park in the back of the zoo and had already seen most every animal that we were on our way to see. boo-hoo for that! so we said we'd meet up to see the bird show, which we did. here's some of the animals we saw

Warthog (or some sort of piggy)

black bear,...though he looks more brown to me.

Buffalo

Penguin

Babboon,

don't ask me?!

Goooo Cougars!!!

Tiger

Giraffe

Goorrrilla (yes I know it's spelled wrong, it's a Tarzan joke)
Then we found the Prairie Dogs aren't they cute! they kinda look like they're contemplating the mysteries of space, or at least one of them does.

then Joe wanted to show us how much of a slow poke he could be
Then showed us what a great croc hunter he was gonna be one day
Finally after all this it was time for to catch up with the rest of the family and go see the birds. Group shot!

here's the photo's that aren't blurry. don't ask me to name them cuz i'll just guess, but I can tell you the ones I do know.

Barn Owl

Macaw

green bird(I'm sure that's the scientific name)

Golden Eagle

Bald Eagle, very appropriate for Memorial Day, though I'm sure for their shows they bring him out even when it's not memorial day. Hugs to say bye
then it was off to the train for a ride. and finally we took ourselves home.

What a fun day!

You have the monkey backpack!!! I love it, so my mom bought it for me so that when I have kids one day I would have it! since kids are a long time away, and then they have to be walking when they wear it I'm sure they will have something new by then, but I had to have the Monkey Backpack! I am so jealous you went to the zoo! I've been trying to get Greg to take me for 2 years now!
